BigBlueButton is now listed on the Asterisk Exchange
Digium, the company behind Asterisk, has added a listing for BigBlueButton in their Asterisk Exchange (link). Asterisk is the open source PBX that powers the voice conferencing system in BigBlueButton.
The message to all companies using Asterisk: if you offering voice solutions using Asterisk, check out BigBlueButton and explore offering web conferencing solutions as well!

HTML 5
We're starting to look closer at the potential for HTML 5 provide as an option for BigBlueButton to provide rich multi-media interface in a pure HTML/Javascript environment.

While there will always be limitations in a new platform, and we know its early days, but HTML 5 is showing some promise for supporting the voice and video streams that would be needed for web conferencing. This is definitely worth investigating further.
